Wally Automation: Redefining Construction at Open Thor Living Lab

Wally Automation, a small but ambitious team of six, is developing a robot that can autonomously build interior walls for residential construction, a technology that could transform the way homes are built.

Wally recently started their first residential construction site, marking a major milestone and proving their technology is ready to make a real impact. Here at Open Thor Living Lab, we helped them explore opportunities, connect with the right research partners, and make the most of our facilities.

Collaboration at ConstrucThor

Much of Wally’s innovation happens at ConstrucThor (KU Leuven), a unique testing and development hub for robotics and advanced construction methods. It’s a space where they can refine their technology, test it in realistic conditions, and tap into the expertise of KU Leuven’s researchers.

Anchored at IncubaThor

Wally has also set up their office at IncubaThor, right on Thor Park. This gives them the advantage of working, testing, and growing in a supportive ecosystem that combines state-of-the-art infrastructure with a thriving entrepreneurial community.

“At Open Thor Living Lab, we actively foster collaborations between industry and researchers, creating the environment where innovations can thrive. Wally Automation found the perfect place to grow and develop its robotics technology.” — Patrice Fleurquin, Open Thor Living Lab

Wally Automation’s journey is a testament to what the Open Thor ecosystem makes possible: the fusion of research, technology, and entrepreneurship to push the construction industry forward.
