Open Thor Living Lab Highlights
We’re launching a new series to bring you a clear and concise overview of everything happening within the Open Thor Living Lab. Here’s what has already taken place in 2026:
Start of our new demonstration and validation area: DC/DemonstraThor
We’ve kicked off the development of our new demonstration and validation area: DC/DemonstraThor.
This initiative focuses on real-world testing of integrated AC, DC, district heating & cooling (DHC), and energy storage solutions. The selection of partners is currently underway.
Opening of ConstrucThor, the new field lab for construction & renovation
With the opening of ConstrucThor, we are offering the construction and renovation sector a powerful new environment to test and validate innovations in real-life conditions.
Start of Wally Automation – scaling up innovation within the construction field lab ConstrucThor
We welcomed Wally Automation into our ecosystem to further develop their construction robot.
They will leverage both the ConstrucThor field lab and the office facilities at IncubaThor to scale their innovation in a real-world setting.
Joining the ecosystem on Powering the Future sessions: Power Electronics & LDES
We joined two inspiring Powering the Future sessions, focused on:
These sessions continue to strengthen collaboration across the energy ecosystem.
Collective renovation as a lever for affordable and future-proof neighbourhoods – Lessons from the Living Lab in Genk
The Open Lab project is active in our residential part of the Open Thor Living Lab. In the Genk living lab, residents, local authorities, housing associations and companies work together to explore how collective renovation can become a powerful driver for positive energy neighbourhoods.
